Halloween parties at school
The big kids had their Halloween parties at school today. First Ben and i went and helped in Jacobs classroom.
They have always decorated a pumpkin, and I don't know if they changed the rules on me or if I didn't read them but I noticed this year it said the pumpkin was suppose to be a sidekick to your character. So Jacob and i had no idea how to draw a Parrot on his pumpkin so I suggested we staple one on I was so glad that he liked that Idea.
Then we headed out to wait for the Literary day parade. The kids aren't allowed to wear "Halloween" costumes they have to be someone from a book so Jacob was a pirate and Hailey was an Indian. I tell my kids I'm only buying one costume so every year in the past Hailey has picked what she wanted for Halloween and just got something out of the dress up box to wear to school. This year they decided to pick costumes they could wear for both.
Ben wanted to be Woody from the start and Jacob told him he couldn't be because Woody wasn't from a book. Ben got upset and started to cry and I had to explain to the big kids that Ben could be what ever he wanted to be because he doesn't go to school yet.
My friend Heavenly that I go to church with I also carpool with and her Little boy Jake and Ben are in the same Nursery class and they are trouble. They are good friends. Every morning when I pick Brooklyn up Jake's at the front door waiving hi to Ben and Ben asks can I go play with Jake?

Here's my cute pirate marching in the parade.
My niece Valerie goes to the same school so we got to see her in the parade too!
Hailey is with the big kids now so we only saw her for like 2 seconds as they walked by us on there way to the main building. She's going to be so sad next year they don't let 4th grader dress up or participate in the parade and I think she's going to very sad and broken hearted.
Then we went to Hailey's class and helped with her party. Ben thought he was big stuff getting to go to the big kids parties.
I don't know what Hailey's doing in his picture I'm sure she's being a bird or some other animal. Hailey's pumpkin/sidekick was the horse from her Kaya book.
Friday night trick or treating
Earlier in the year I realized that Halloween was on Sunday which causes a problem for us going trick or treating on the Sabbath day would not be an appropriate Sabbath day activity so I talked to the kids a couple times and I can't say they were happy but no one threw a fit and in fact the first time I mentioned it to Hailey that Halloween was on sunday this year before i could say anything she said "oh well were not going trick or treating." But early on I had the thought that I should see if some of my other friends wanted to do just our houses the night before so our kids didn't have to miss out. And then my very smart My friend Heavenly sent out an email a while back with the same idea and I thought I thank goodness now I don't have to handle it. =) SO Heavenly put it all together and I just got to enjoy it.
I invited my sister and my neighbor Renee to come with us. This is Valerie, Hailey, Ben, Jacob before the Davis kids got here.
Then we all piled in my van and went around to the houses. my skipped a couple but the kids didn't even know me skipped up them.
We made an unscheduled stop at Grandma Jammie's she wasn't on the list but she wanted to see the Grand babies and because we were the only trick or treater's she was going to have she filled them up on Candy.
Me, Renee, Sam, Jacob, Hailey, Valerie, Ben, Lucas, Maddie Mo. After this we went back to my house and had our Owens/Davis Halloween tradition and had Pizza. And this year Sam and John joined us.

Hailey practiceing her piano.
Hailey girl really has gotten really good at playing the piano. I'm really proud of her. And I really like this song, I thinks she plays it well.
something wrong with me
There is something wrong with me. I just spent the last 30 minutes dividing the candy into 2 bowls one for trick or treaters and one for the church trunk or treat. But instead of just dumping half of each bag in I dumped each bag out and made sure each bowl had the same amount of snickers and the same amount of nerds and so forth. What's wrong with me.

Night time Potty Training
I started night time potty training Big Ben. This really wasn't my choice I was going to put it off as long as possible but Ben decided he doesn't like to wear his pull up at night and takes it off in the middle of the night, so he pees in his bed every night. Wish me luck.

Carving Pumpkins
We got our pumpkins carved tonight.
the big kids cut the whole in the top
Daddy helped Jacob de-gut his.
Hailey wanted to do hers by herself. I heard a lot of ewwww this is gross.
Ben supervised very well while I carved his pumpkin, I even let him cut when it didn't matter if he messed up and he thought he was big stuff.
our finished works of art.
Now I just hope they last until Halloween
It was hard getting Ben to smile with his pumpkin.
Jacob's always ready to Ham it up for the camera.
I took a bunch of Hailey and her pumpkin. These were just the best. She was so proud of her pumpkin that she did mostly by herself.
My cuttie pies.
