Snow

Ryan went Snowboarding with Ashley and her friends from work and as a surprise he filled the back of his truck up with snow and brought it home for the kids. They loved it and they loved throwing snow at each other and us. Ben would get mad at us if we threw any back at him.

Ryan got home late Saturday, so we broke our no playing outside on Sunday rule and Ryan hauled what was left of the snow into the back yard in a big crate and we let the kids play in it untill they got tired. Hailey and Jacob were very sad when they got up on Monday morning and it was all gone. They wanted to know where there snow went.

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy

So as most of you know since Ben was born I have had constant Stomach problems when they put me on the diabetic medication they were hoping that would help with me stomach problems but I actually think it made it worse. So Finally my Dr. sent me to gastroenterologist who decided that I either had ulcer's, cancer , or celiac disease. So he wanted to do a scope and try to figure out what was going on. So that's what I had done today. First we had to get up at 5:30 so we could have the kids to the sitter by 6:00. Those of you who know me know that, that was painful for me. I was really nervous. Your going to think I'm goofy but I was more nervous about having the needle for the IV to go to sleep then actually having the procedure done. Everyone who has had it done told me it was no big deal they just were super sleepy afterwords. When they took me back and got my IV going I thought I would be good but when they wheeled me into the procedure room and the Dr asked me how I was I started to cry and told him I was nervous. He said that was normal. then he started cracking jokes and told me he hadn't sent anyone to the hospital in weeks and how his nurse had been out of Jail for months. It worked he made me laugh and eased my worries a little bit. But wow did the meds work quick the nurse put it in they had me roll over on my side and that's the last thing I remember. The next thing I remember is walking out the side door to Ryan's truck. Ryan said in recovery I threw up and I asked him what time it was 5 times. Then I don't remember much I vaguely remember throwing up in Ryan's truck I actually thought it was a dream. But he said we were getting on the on ramp on to the free way and I said I was going to throw up so I opened the door and started throwing up so he had to pull off to the side of the on ramp and hold the back of my jacket so I didn't fall out. Then I don't remember getting to or walking into my parents house. But I remember laying down in their spare room. Ryan said I was a little grouchy with him He asked if I wanted to get under the covers and I grouchy said "NO" then asked if I wanted to take my coat off and I again grouched at him "No" then he asked if I wanted him to take my shoes off and that one was OK and told him "Yes" So dad babysat me while Ryan went and did a Temple session while I slept for 3 hours. Then Ryan brought us lunch, and then we ran a couple of errands and I came home and slept for another 3 hours. So I don't remember this but Ryan said the Dr said there's no ulcers and no sign of cancer just inflammation in my stomach and duodenum. They took some biopsies and we should have the results in two weeks.

Purge and clean

We cleaned out the garage and storage area and we got rid of the baby stuff. It was really hard for me. I knew we weren't having any more babies but by actually getting rid of the stuff made it so real. We took Ben's crib down and moved him onto the bottom bunk and put Jacob on the top bunk. Jacob at first said no he wanted Ben to sleep up there. And we explained to him Ben was to little he started crying and Saying he didn't want to sleep up top it was scary. and that Ben was only 2 so he still needed to sleep in a baby bed. I felt so bad for him he just kept crying and saying he didn't want to sleep on top it was scary. It's funny how different Kids are. When Jammie gave us the beds Hailey was like 3 and begged us to sleep on the top. and Jacob is 5 and crying cause he doesn't want to.

Ben & Mickey

Ben got this rocking Mickey from my cousin Evan and his wife Dano (Danielle) and I felt really bad because he never even looked at it after he got but one of the big kids showed him it played music when you pushed his ear. Well once he figured that out. He loves it he hauls it around the house, and rides in every room, and plays the song over and over again. So Dano you picked a great toy and Benners loves it.

Mommy

Ben has started calling me "MOMMY" it's so cute. I've always been Momma before. I guess now he's a big boy. He really likes how it sounds because he says it all the time. and sometimes he says it over and over again until I say what, and then he smiles at me and says hi or just runs away.

Check ups

I took the boys for their checkups today. They did really good But taking the 2 of them anywhere is always an adventure. Jacob is doing well he is 42 inches tall so he's in the 25th perc for kids his age and he ways 33 pounds so he's in the 3-5 perc for kids his age. She was happy with his growth for an Owens kid. He did great on the vision test he couldn't read the smallest but he did the rest great. He also did good on the hearing test once he figured out what she wanted. She told him what she wanted him to do and when she started the test he just sat there and never raised his hand so I was worried there was something wrong so I asked him do you hear a noise and he said yes but it didn't sound to him how she had explained it to him, so I told him when he heard that noise to raise his hand so after that he did great. I asked her about him still chewing on stuff she said she thought it was for attention, so try to ignore it, but I just don't have that in me to ignore that kind of behaviour. I realized I forgot to ask her about his snoring I'll have to remember next time. I wasn't sure if he needed shots or not and he kept asking me about them, and I kept having to tell him I don't know. So when the nurse came back in and said he only needed a flu shot I thought that was good news. Jacob did not agree. I hid under the chairs and I had to drag him out and hold him down so he wouldn't get away from me, while he screamed the entire time.

Ben 34 1/2 inches tall which is the 25-50th perc for kids his age and 22 pounds 9.5 ounces so he's in the 3 perc for kids his age and a 49 cm head circumference which is the 50th perc. So his an average sized height skinny kid with a big head. She's not happy with his size but he has grown quite a bit since his last visit so she's ok with it. She wants me to continue giving him the pedisure. I asked her about his speech. He talks very little and is still so stubborn and aggressive. She said that We could have him tested. But She could see 3 problems. 1 he could have a speech problem, 2 he is the last of three and everyone speaks for him, and 3 he could be lazy. I personally think it's a little of 2 and 3. But she gave me the number to call and have him tested, but I think were going wait and see what happens. The stubborn, aggressive, grouchiness she thinks is just his personality, and she's hoping he'll grow out of it as he gets older and will talk more. Ben had no idea what was going on so when I put him up there to do the shots he just looked at me and the lady and when she gave him the first shot he just flinched so I thought this won't be so bad, but when she did the second one he started screaming. So I had to very upset boys who both wanted me to hold them.

Poor Baby

no nap + 3 shots + being sent to time out 4 times for hitting = a baby asleep in timeout

Little Nates Birthday Party

Ryan's business partner Nate has a little boy that's a year older then Jacob, and his birthday party was at the bowling alley. The kids had a great time. Except Ben he couldn't figure out why we wouldn't let him play with the balls and why he never got a turn. So Ryan & I just took turns chasing him around. I feel bad I didn't get a picture of the birthday boy. Maybe his mom will post one on Face book and I can steal it.

Hailey and Jacob showing off there Mad Skills.

Ryan taking a turn wrangling Ben. And Ben standing in his birthday cake it took me forever to get it out of the tread on his shoe.

Disney on ice.

Ryan saw that Disney on ice was
coming to town, and he thought it
would be fun to take the big kids.
So we debated on if we leave Ben
at home and both go with the big
kids but I decided it would be a
fun for the big kids to get to go on
a Daddy date. Hailey and I went to
one with my fiend Carrie a couple
of years ago so I had already been to one, but then I saw an add
on the TV for it and I realized it was so much more. So I was super jealous. I told Ryan I wanted to go too.

I had Ryan right up the rest of this post as I did not go I wanted a first hand account of the experience they had.

I had been reflecting recently on the “Special Days” that my mom set aside for us as children and I have been wanting to do something with my kids that would duplicate the wonderful memories I had. While I don’t have the day-to-day free time, I thought that Special Saturdays would be a good fit for my family and so I saw that Disney on Ice was coming to town. I took Hailey and Jacob with me to downtown Phoenix to see the show and they kept saying “Wow, we are going to the City.” We had practically front row seats for the event and, after buying $40 worth of popcorn and snow cones, we settled down for the show. Hailey and Jacob were so excited to see Mickey and Minnie, and the whole show moved through different movies, from Little Mermaid, Lion King, Tinkerbell, Cars, and others. Both the kids seemed to like Tinkerbell the best for some reason. It was so fun to watch their eyes light up with each new spectacle and get so excited to see the different characters that they love, and point out “do you see, do you see, did you see that, hey wow, look at that”, it was a constant barrage of exclamations. I think we all had great time together.

Ben and his Dogs.

My Big kids have never had one paticular stuffed animal, blanket or any other kind of comfort blanket. They always wanted a Lovie as my kids called them but they were never paticular about which one. ANd it changed from day to day, one day it was a dog, the next day it was a cat and then it would be something else. But Ben, he has always had a favorite for the first year and half of his life it was a little stuffed pooh Bear, and now it is these dogs. He would perfer all three of them at once but he'll take one at a time if we can only find one. Keep in mind that none of them are his. The green and pink ones are Hailey's but he loves them so much She said it was OK that he could have them. The little black and white ones is actually Jacob's and sometimes he is willing to share with him and sometimes he decides he wants it back which causes Drama. He has loved the black and white one so much that it's missing one arm and the other arm is hanging on by a thread. THere are actually 2 green ones but he doesn't realize there are 2 of them. one is missing and eye and one is missing an ear. If he can find them he hauls them around the house all the time and then he looses them for a while and then we find them so he hauls them around again. But when he goes to Bed if we can't find one of his three doggies, he refuses to take any other Lovie(stuffed animal) he just cries for a few minutes and goes to sleep.

Sick Jacob Boy

***Warning, this story is gross if you have a week stomach don't read***

We are having problems with our server at work and Ryan has been spending a lot of time at my office trying to help Dr. B get it back up. So he didn't get home tonight until a little before 11. I had already put the kids to bed. While we were reading our scriptures Jacob told me his tummy didn't feel good. When I asked him if he was gonna throw up and he said no. So I put him to bed and went on with my evening. So after Ryan got home we were talking and we heard something funny coming from the kids room and we realized Jacob was throwing up. So we got him and the bed all cleaned up and put him back to bed on the couch. Well he started throwing up in his sleep and I had to prop him up so he would throw up in the bowl. Then he woke up and tried to sit up so he face planted right into the bowl of throw up. I thought I was gonna throw up too. But it was kind of funny. Poor baby.

Cooking Day

My Neighbor/Friend Renee froze a months worth of meals a while back and I thought that sounded like a good idea and she let me join in this time and this is what we made in one day.
8 Pizza Doughs, 6 meals of Cheese Manicotti with homemade spaghetti sauce, 6 meals of Italian chicken, 6 meals of chicken and broccoli, 4 meals of BBQ ribs, 5 meals of BBQ chicken, 6 meals of tacos, and jalapeno poppers. Picture does not include the 4 meals of pulled pork and the 4 meals of ham, and 4 meals of Green Chili.. So 54 meals in 1 day!!!

Silly Kids

While I was cooking with Renee Ryan took the big kids to the soccer game and then ran some errands and he took these pictures with the his phone so I stole them. They are allways bugging me to take their picture on the Target Ball but I'm always in a hurry and tell them NO so this time Daddy got to be the good guy and let them do something mommy doesn't let them.

Soccer

Hailey started Soccer this week. She has been asking to play for a while now and I have been avoiding it. Because the last time she played it was horrible. She liked the practices but when it came to the games she either stood there in the middle of the field and pouted or she stood there and cried and refused to run with her team. It was awful. And every game ended with Hailey upset and sad and Ryan and I mad and frustrated. So we will see how this goes.

Jacob's 5th Birthday Party

Since we went to New Mexico the week before Jacob's birthday I wasn't going to have time for much planning and preparation so we decided to go the easy route and do Peter Piper Pizza. Jacob was super excited and decided to have a Spider man theme.

My three goofy kids in the hot dog truck

Spider Man cake, Jacob and his friends. This is the first year Jacob has had actual friend to invite. We invited a bunch of his friends from school and a few from church. I invited a bunch of kids figuring only half of them would come and we would have a good size party. Well shows what I know because almost everyone we invited came so we had a huge party with lots and lots of kids.

This is the before and after. Ryan helping me set up and the party guest.

Jacob opening his presents and Hailey smooshing Aunt Ashley's face.

More presents.

Dad/Pappy and Nate I'm not sure what there talking about but they find it funny
Grandma Jammie.

Matt and Maddi. Carrie and Addyson. I poked the Bear I asked her to share her chair with another little girl and she did not think that was a good idea. So she was mad.

Brother Milius, Miss Marni Jacob's teacher, Janelle, and Tish moms of Jacob's friends
Jacob was so funny he kept asking me if miss Marni was coming to his party. Once she told me they were coming I would tell him yes, I had to laugh he never asked if Miss Marni's little girl that is one of his school friends but he kept asking me if Miss Marni was coming. I think he has a little crush.

Jacob and his spider man cake.

Renee and Baby Maddi, Baby Ben. He was so much trouble, good thing there was enough people to help me keep an eye on him.

after cake and presents we went and rode some rides and played some games. The kids loved this merry go round thing they rode it over and over again.

Two of my favorite guys playing some kind of game.
